| Employees - information |
|
We aim to ensure employees are informed about and engaged in the activities of the business. Given the variety of our operations, this requires a wide range of communication methods. Our codes of conduct on ethical behaviour in business are incorporated into the contract of employment for each employee and detailed in our Employee Handbook, which is available on our intranet. We also have a clear procedure in place for employees wishing to report matters under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998. Our policy on whistleblowing can be downloaded here. We provide employees with clear and fair terms of reference through the Employee Handbook and information on business developments through the intranet and staff magazine. Our internal communication processes include regular local newsletters produced at business-unit level and annual communication plans for each area. Our employee forums are well established at all of our business units and act as a bridge between our business and its people. Over the last year, these forums have contributed towards arrange of subjects, including flexible working arrangements, workplace environment and changes to pension arrangements resulting from recent changes in legislation. We regularly seek feedback from our employees, and in 2005 we participated in a survey of employee opinion in conjunction with ‘Best Companies’. For more details on the outcome of this survey, look at the ‘Performance 2005’ section of this site http://csr.abports.co.uk/workplace/employees/perf2004.htm
